Launch of KLiDance Festival at The Federal Kuala Lumpur

Press Conference of Kuala Lumpur International Dance Festival, the Dance Component of DiverseCity: Kuala Lumpur International Arts Festival held on Tuesday, 4 August 2015 at 11.30am at the SkyRoom, Federal Hotel Kuala Lumpur featuring MyDance Alliance, Dua Space Dance Theatre, ALAMAK Entertainment, Sutra Foundation, ASEEMA Trust, GuoGuang Opera Company, Akademi Seni Budaya Dan Warisan Kebangsaan (ASWARA), Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Temple of Fine Arts (TFA), Nandhitaa Arts, Kimball Gallagher, KaiYin Huang & YiLing Chaing, Suresh Kaliyath & Sangeeta Isvaran.

 

Federal Hotels International together with The Federal Kuala Lumpur, Hotel Capitol Kuala Lumpur, bbpark and Plaza Low Yat are pleased to support the inaugural Kuala Lumpur International Dance Festival, the dance component of “DiverseCity: the Kuala Lumpur International Arts Festival (1 – 30 September 2015), with ambitious program lined up curated by artistic greats of Malaysia including Datuk Ramli Ibrahim (UNESCO Living Treasure and multi-awarded Odissi artist), Harith Iskander (Asia's best stand-up comedian and the "godfather" of stand-up comedy in Malaysia), Michael Veerapen (one of leading Asia's jazz musicians), as well as Pusaka which, since 2002 and led by Eddin Khoo works intimately with the most distinguished traditional performers in the region to revitalize their living heritage.

Mr Simon Leong, General Manager of The Federal Kuala Lumpur and Hotel Capitol Kuala Lumpur said “We are happy to be the Official Hotel for the Dance Component of DiverseCity: Kuala Lumpur International Arts Festival which was launched by the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur on 25 May 2015. In line with this, we are pleased that Sutra Dance will be organising two flash mob dance with the support of The Federal Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Hotel Capitol Kuala Lumpur, bbpark and Plaza Low Yat, at the front entrace of Plaza Low Yat on two weekends, the first flash mob dance will take place on Saturday 8 August 2015 from 3pm to 6pm by the Aswara, Sutra & Dua Space Dance Group and on Saturday, 9 September 2015 from 3pm to 6pm by Aseema Trust and TFA dance Groups. The Federal Kuala Lumpur, the hotel for Merdeka will be celebrating its 58th Anniversary on the 28 August 2015, as the country also celerbates its 58th Anniversary. As you may be well aware, The Federal Hotel was opened to welcome the foreign dignitaries, in time for the Merdeka Celebrations on 28 August 1957. Since then, the Federal Hotel had played host and support to many international events and home for the footballers, and badminton players, as well as the support to the Sutra Dance Festival such as the Tarikan! A Sutra Dance Festival 2012; Sutra Foundation Rasa Unmasked 2009; and the Stirring Odissi – international Odissi Festival 2008. We are pleased again to be the partner of KLiDance, DiverseCity: Kuala Lumpur International Arts Festival 2015. Join us to support this month long spectacular event and the forthcoming Flash Mob Dance held at Plaza Low Yat”
