FHI Hotels launched the 10,000 Expressions of Green KL
Y.Bhg. Dato’ Haji Bakaruddin bin Othman, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Federal Territories & Urban Well-being (Planning & Development) has graciously consented to launch 10,000 Expressions of Green KL on Saturday, 15 January 2011 at Skyroom, 15th Floor The Federal Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The 10,000 Expressions of Green KL is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project undertaken by the Federal Hotels InternationalGroup of Hotels namely The Federal Kuala Lumpur and Hotel Capitol with support from the Ministry of Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing, Local Agenda (LA) 21 Kuala Lumpur Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur together with their partners join hands together for the first time in CRS initiative through the programme of LA 21. The objective is to create awareness to save our mother earth and develop a greener environment for now and future, be it the young or older generation, and together this joint concerted efforts to raise funds for YAWA* (Yayasan Anak Warisan Alam) or Children’s Environmental Heritage Foundation to support their environmental activities for school children, youths and the underprivileged that have special needs.
The partners of this 10,000 Expressions of Green KL, being good corporate citizens are doing their part to drive this charity campaign and to drive home the message that everyone needs to do their part for the environment and they include:
- Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur Local Agenda 21 Kuala Lumpur– sponsorship of door gifts, plants, security and transportation.
- ICI Paints (M) Sdn Bhd - Sponsorship of eco friendly paints for the whole duration of the campaign;
- Plaza Low Yat, AEON and Sungei Wang Plaza – Sponsorship of Venue inclusive PA system, drinks & meals for the volunteers;
- Balai Seni Lukis Negara - Provide Artists for their efforts in painting the globes on the 10 pieces of canvass as well as venue to exhibit the completed Canvass at their location for public viewing.
- Yayasan Muamalat Belia and for the involvement of Celebrities to support the campaign at the shopping complexes.
- Persatuan Penyanyi-Pemuzik-Penulis Lagu Tanahair (PAPITA) for assisting to send celebrities to reinforce the message of creating green environment and their star power to support this charity campaign.
Last but not least,
- Yayasan Anak Warisan Alam (YAWA) who will organize green activities throughout the whole campaign such as the eco-drum musical performance on all the weekends throughout the duration of this charity campaign. The Green Kids Day which was introduced last year during our Green Heart Campaign at The Federal Hotel in conjunction with our Earth Day celebration, will again be organised by YAWA on every Wednesday of the week, school children from various schools will be invited to join in these activities.
The 10,000 Expressions of Green KL is open to everyone. Anyone, everyone can participate in this charity campaign by making a contribution. For one contribution, he or she is eligible to paint one stroke on the canvass. The General publics, guests, shoppers are encouraged to support this campaign – IT IS YOUR STROKES OF EXPRESSIONS, Save our Earth, Do Our Part, Paint Your Expressions, It’s in Our Hands! There will be a total of 10 canvass with each measured at 5m in length and 5’ in height. The canvass will be posted at different locations for the public, guests, diners and shoppers to participate from 15 January to 28 February 2011.
